Northeastern Illinois Area Agency on Aging – Community Planning Staff 

Last year Sandy Markwood, executive director of the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (N4A), presented on N4A’s research revealing the lack of community preparedness for the aging of America.

This year the discussion turns to action in the context of the statewide effort, “Maturing of Illinois: Getting Communities on Track for an Aging Population”, culminating in a formal report to the Illinois General Assembly.

This seminar will…

  • Highlight the changing senior face in the collar counties
  • Outline the Area Agency’s three-year Livable Communities action plan, including the five communities selected
  • Update on what other communities are doing around the state
