DuPage County Long-Term Care Facilities A long-term care facility which is staffed to make round-the-clock nursing services available to residents who require them. In Illinois, the Medicaid program pays for care in a skilled nursing facility if a person's physician says such care is needed and the physician's decision is approved by the program. Medicare will pay for up to 100 days in a skilled nursing facility only if a person has spent at least three days in a hospital and such continued care is recommended by the person's physician and approved by Medicare. Medicaid pays for charges incurred after 100 days for those who are eligible for both programs and who continue to need the care.
