The Northeastern Illinois Area Agency on Aging strongly encourages all housing developers to build affordable and accessible housing for older adults.

Disability has no age boundaries. The latest statistics indicate that everyone will be disabled sometime during their life. Build your development with the idea that anyone will be able to live in this home at any point in his or her life.

Consider using tax credits and grants that will assist with costs and rental rates. Older persons are on limited incomes and many have unexpected expenses that will limit their housing funding availability. You can help them remain independent by keeping their housing cost down.
