Top Chefs Under the Full Moon at the
18th Annual “A Suburban A Fare”

Ladies and gentlemen, ghosts and ghouls, thank you for helping to fight the FRIGHT that is hunger!  We had a SPOOKTACULAR time at the Drury Lane with over 550 guests and volunteers and 19 chefs!

Our Head Goblin, Andy Avalos, NBC5 Morning Meteorologist, did a fantastic job leading everyone in a day of bidding and eating.  Event Goblin, Denise Izatt, also helped to remind us of the cause we were all gathered together to support – hunger takes NO holiday!  In addition to the smashing silent auction, multiple raffles, and live auction, guests were treated to delicious creations by our talented chefs.  Honoring three of their own, Chefs Stan Byrks from the Drury Lane and Emilio Gervilla and Crispin Plata from Emilio’s Tapas Restaurant were awarded the distinguished “Silver Plate” award, given by their peers in recognition and appreciation of their service.

The event to date has raised an astounding $85,500! This will enable even more vulnerable at-risk elders to receive nutritious meals on holidays and weekends – THANK YOU!

A special thank you is extended to all of the volunteers, including those from BP and CB&I, who gave of their time to work and make this event possible.

We appreciate all the people who have helped Holiday Meals on Wheels come closer to achieving its goal of providing our elderly neighbors with the most basic of human needs – one nutritious meal a day, every day.  Because of this support, isolated seniors know that they have not been forgotten.

Why Holiday Meals on Wheels... Do you expect to eat 7 days a week?

Due to increasing demand and insufficient funding, the publicly funded meals-on-wheels program is limited to only one hot meal per day, Monday through Friday.  Many elders must choose between food, medicine, and other necessities of daily living!

Receiving no federal or state monies, Holiday Meals on Wheels survives on special events, private and corporate donations, and the community.

Holiday Meals on Wheels Goal...

Provide our vulnerable, at-risk elders with the most basic of human needs, one nutritious meal a day, every day!

If you are...

  • A chef or restaurant interested in a great marketing opportunity to promote you and your restaurant, as well as helping a great cause;
  • Looking for a fabulous time and unique cuisines to sample;
  • A company wanting to expand visibility by becoming a sponsor;
  • Wanting to support the event by donating $$$ or items to the auction;
