Lombard, IL – The Board of Directors of AgeGuide Northeastern Illinois has appointed Myra Valera, LPN, CA HCM, MBA, PhD(c) to the Agency’s Advisory Council as a Kane County representative. Myra will fill a vacant position and serve a three-year term.
Myra is a licensed practical nurse who has worked for Transitional Care of Arlington Heights for over 15 years, spending much of her time advocating for older adults. Myra primary role is in transitional post-acute care that targets older adults. She is a PhD candidate at Concordia University Chicago.
Myra is a member of the American Case Management Association and serves on the Education Committee. In her free time, she enjoys mentoring young people entering into the healthcare industry.

AgeGuide feels Myra is very knowledgeable on the needs of older adults and feels she will be a good resource for the Advisory Council both in terms of her nursing background and more specifically with regard to her knowledge of transitional acute care and social determinants of health.

AgeGuide Northeastern Illinois is a nonprofit organization responsible for developing and coordinating a network of services for older persons throughout an eight county area in northeastern Illinois.
