Illinois — On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, AgeGuide will join the Illinois Association of Area Agencies on Aging (I4A) and local funded providers for a statewide Day of Action to call for critical funding for the Older Americans Act (OAA) — a lifeline for millions of older adults and caregivers across Illinois and the nation. From Lombard to Carbondale, all 13 Area Agencies on Aging and their partners will host events highlighting the human impact of these essential services.

The goal is simple: send a clear message to lawmakers — act now. In 2024 alone, 471,104 Illinoisans were served through OAA funding. Illinois’ aging population is growing rapidly, and without sustained investment, vital programs that provide meals, caregiving, transportation, home care, and social connection will be severely reduced.

“The Older Americans Act funds a statewide network of services that do more than meet basic needs — they help older adults live fuller, healthier lives,” said Marla Fronczak, CEO of AgeGuide. “These services are for all of us as we age — from caregivers carrying heavy burdens to older adults facing isolation. We must remind legislators: these aren’t line items — they’re lifelines. Cutting them isn’t an option.”

Events across the state will raise awareness and spotlight the importance of the Older Americans Act. I4A urges all Illinois residents to participate, attend a local event, and contact their legislators to protect aging services.
