West Chicago, IL – Older adults, caregivers and their advocates from Lake and McHenry counties are invited to an Advocacy Breakfast Collaborative hosted by the Agency on Aging Northeastern Illinois on Friday, March 15 at The Garlands of Barrington (1000 Garlands Lane, Barrington). Registration will begin at 8:30 AM and the program will run from 9 AM – 11:30 AM. The Advocacy Breakfast Collaborative will discuss federal, state and local issues concerning the aging population. A light breakfast will be served at the event. This event will be the last of four Advocacy Breakfast Collaboratives that the Agency on Aging Northeastern Illinois has hosted around their eight county service area.

The purpose of the Advocacy Breakfast Collaborative is for older adults, caregivers and their advocates to meet federal, state and local legislators and voice their opinions on issues affecting these groups. It will include discussions on the state initiative to combat social isolation, dementia friendly communities, and other topics that are important to older adults. Community providers of services for seniors will give brief presentations about the value of home- and community-based services that positively impact the quality of life of seniors, people with disabilities, and caregivers. Legislators may raise other issues, and the program will conclude with a question-and-answer session if time allows.

Federal and State Representatives and Senators who represent Lake and McHenry counties have been invited to attend the Collaborative. The Illinois Continuity of Care, AARP and The Garlands of Barrington are the sponsors of this event.
