The Agency on Aging Northeastern Illinois held its 45th Annual Meeting & Community Partner Recognition Luncheon on Friday, April 12, 2019 at Arrowhead Golf Club in Wheaton. After the Board of Directors and Advisory Council elections, appointments and community partner recognitions, guests enjoyed remarks from Executive
Director, Marla Fronczak and featured speaker, Judith Gethner, Executive Director of Illinois Partners for Human Service.
Judith spoke with guests about “The Power of Words: How to Change the Conversation on Aging”. She emphasized the importance of re-framing the conversation about human services and aging and how using positive words can still show a need for support and funding without casting a negative view on aging and on the services needed for the aging population.
“This year we at the Agency wanted to recognize our community partners who provide the services to older adults in our communities.” said Marla Fronczak, Executive Director for the Agency on Aging Northeastern Illinois. “Without them, older adults would not receive a hot meal every day, or the caregiver support they might need, and may become more isolated than they already are. Our community partners are the ones out in the community making a difference in the lives of older adults and we thank them for their hard work.”
The luncheon concluded with a delicious lunch prepared by one of the Celebrity Chefs, Alan Pirhofer, from the Celebrity Chefs Brunch hosted by the Agency on Aging Northeastern Illinois every year. The Agency on Aging would like to thank everyone who attended and has supported the Agency throughout the years.
