Lombard, IL – AgeGuide, the Area Agency on Aging for Northeastern Illinois, is announcing that the operation of Older Americans Act (OAA) nutrition services community dining program in Kendall County will be transitioned to Community Nutrition Network and Senior Services Association (CNN), effective October 1, 2021.

The Community Dining program offers older adults an enjoyable meal in a welcoming, social environment. Programs are held in community settings such as senior centers, churches, and restaurants. Besides supporting healthy nutrition, community dining offers many benefits including socialization, classes, and activities to keep older adults active and engaged. Meals are available throughout AgeGuide’s eight county service area each weekday. Any older adult 60 years or older is eligible for a meal regardless of income or assets. Meals are approved by Registered Dietitians and contain 1/3 of the daily nutritional needs of the average older adult. Due to the COVID-19 State of Emergency, community dining locations are serving “to-go” or pick up meals. Those community dining sites that are open to diners are following CDC and Illinois Department on Aging reopening guidelines.  Participants should contact the specific locations for more information.

“We are excited to expand our partnership with Community Nutrition Network as they take the helm of this critical program in Kendall County.” said Marla Fronczak, Chief Executive Officer of AgeGuide Northeastern Illinois. “Community Nutrition Network is already an established and trusted provider of nutrition services in the community, and we are confident in their ability to take on this additional program for older adults.”

Anyone who would like to learn more about the Community Dining program in Kendall County should contact Community Nutrition Network at (630) 553-2316 for more information.
