Lombard, IL – AgeGuide, the Area Agency on Aging serving Northeastern Illinois, is pleased to announce an expanded partnership with Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet (CCDoJ). Beginning October 1, 2026, CCDoJ will provide Caregiver Resource and Counseling services in Will County.
These services are part of the Federal Older Americans Act (OAA) Family Caregiver Program, which supports people who provide unpaid care to a loved one. This includes those caring for adults age 60 and older or people living with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. The program also supports grandparents and other relatives age 55 and older who are raising children under 18, as well as those caring for adults with disabilities.
Caregiver Counseling services provide a place for caregivers to talk through challenges, make decisions with their families, find ways to manage stress, and maintain their own well-being. Counselors can help caregivers navigate difficult situations and connect them with additional services and supports.
Caregiver Resource Centers help caregivers find information, resources, and practical support. Services may include respite care; caregiver education and training; support groups; legal assistance; and financial assistance for short-term services; adaptive equipment; and supplies that are not covered by insurance.

Their experience and commitment to the community will help ensure caregivers have the support they need to care for their loved ones while also taking care of themselves.”
In addition to its caregiver support services, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet is a trusted resource for older adults in Will County, providing programs that help people stay active, engaged, and connected. Services include Friendly Visiting & Phone Calls, Health Promotion classes, and Information & Assistance. Older adults can also access additional community supports through partner organizations, including Meals on Wheels for Northern Illinois (Home Delivered Meals and Community Dining), the County of Will (Transportation), and Prairie State Legal (Legal assistance). Together, these services provide a coordinated network of support for aging well in the community.
