Lombard, IL – AgeGuide, the Area Agency on Aging for Northeastern Illinois, is announcing that the operation of Older Americans Act Aging and Disability Resource Network access services in Will County will be transitioned to Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet, effective October 8, 2021.
Trained experts from the Aging and Disability Resource Network are the front-line workers for services that support older adults. This network helps older adults connect to the many services and resources available to support their independence, health, and well-being by offering objective information, assistance and informed decision making. Specially trained staff also offer one-on-one assistance applying for benefit programs to help older adults save money on health care, food, prescriptions, utilities and more, as well as assistance with exploring Medicare health insurance options.
Catholic Charities also provides Telephone Reassurance, Caregiver Support, Information and Assistance, Options Counseling, Health Promotion classes, the Senior Health Insurance Program, Adult Protective Services, and Long-Term Care Ombudsman programs to older adults in Grundy, Kankakee and Will Counties. Senior Services of Will County will continue to be the designated Care Coordination Unit for the county, providing assessments and connections to the Illinois Department on Aging’s Community Care Program and will continue to provide caregiver support services.
“We are thrilled to work with Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet in this new capacity as they take on another critical program for older adults.” said Marla Fronczak, Chief Executive Officer of AgeGuide Northeastern Illinois, “AgeGuide, along with Catholic Charities and Senior Services of Will County, is committed to ensuring that older adults, and their families, are able to find and receive the assistance they need for maintaining well-being and independence.”
