Lombard, IL – AgeGuide, the Area Agency on Aging for Northeastern Illinois, is announcing the launch of its AgeGuide Learning Center, an educational resource for Aging Service providers, the business community, first responders, health care professionals, faith communities, older adults, and caregivers.
The AgeGuide Learning Center offers free online courses and webinars to educate older adults, caregivers, and businesses on practical tools, resources, and information to guide people on their aging journey. The courses are designed to better equip older adults and their loved ones to remain healthy and well in their community.
The set of courses currently available are designed to educate businesses and community partners on supporting people living with dementia and their caregivers. A community with certified Dementia Friendly businesses promotes inclusivity of all people as they age and fosters the ability of people living with dementia to remain in the community, be engaged and thrive in their daily life. The Dementia Friendly sector courses are for the community businesses, elder rights advocates, first responders, healthcare workers, and transportation professionals. These courses focus on understanding dementia and taking action to create an environment that is safe, respectful, and welcoming to people living with dementia. Each course takes less than 45 minutes to complete, and participants receive a certificate of completion. Businesses who meet specific business standards receive a customizable certificate and window cling for prominent display.
In the upcoming months, AgeGuide will be adding courses on a wide variety of diverse and inclusive topics including How-To Navigate Medicare, Elder Rights, Veterans Independence Program, Family Caregiver courses, and more.
“We are thrilled to launch the AgeGuide Learning Center and to share this new resource with the community.” said Marla Fronczak, Chief Executive Officer of AgeGuide Northeastern Illinois. “The goal for the AgeGuide Learning Center is to educate and empower all older adults, wherever they are on their aging journey. We hope the older adults, professionals and caregivers in our region find this to be a go-to resource for a wide variety of topics related to aging.”
