Lombard, IL – AgeGuide, the Area Agency on Aging for Northeastern Illinois, is announcing its new Senior Dine Restaurant Program, a new dining program available to older adults in Kankakee County in partnership with Lori’s Restaurant.
The Senior Dine Program offers older adults an enjoyable meal in a local restaurant. Eligible participants must complete an application at Lori’s Restaurant between the hours of 9 AM and 2 PM, Monday through Friday. Once the application is processed, the older adult will receive a Senior Dine card that works like a debit card. Each month, the card will be loaded with 15 meals for the participant to enjoy from the Senior Dine menu. Meals will be served at Lori’s Restaurant Monday through Saturday during specific hours. Any older adult age 60 or older is eligible for the Senior Dine Program, regardless of income or assets. Others of any age who may qualify for community dining programs, include spouses of, and people with disabilities living with, an eligible individual.
Older adults can begin applying for the Senior Dine program on Monday, November 1st with a grand opening of Thursday, November 11th. This Older Americans Act meal program is partially supported by federal funding in combination with resources from community partners. While there is no cost to the participant, donations are encouraged to help support the cost of the program.
“This new innovative dining program will be a wonderful addition to our nutrition program in Kankakee County.” said Marla Fronczak, Chief Executive Officer of AgeGuide Northeastern Illinois. “We are excited to partner with Lori’s Restaurant to offer this new opportunity for older adults to enjoy in their community. We also hope to expand and create more partnerships with other local restaurants in our service area.”
