Lombard, IL – AgeGuide Northeastern Illinois, the Area Agency on Aging for DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake and McHenry counties, is hosting a free virtual seminar for companies looking to support their employees who are caring for a loved one to help them continue to live at home and in the community.
A caring economy supports people of all ages who are caring for loved ones. This seminar will feature a discussion on ways to support employees who are caring for a loved one and learn how supportive employers can increase workforce attraction and retention.
Caring for people at home and in the community avoids more costly long-term care placement, supports health and well-being, and reduces the strain on our economy. The majority of caregivers (21%), also balance jobs. In fact, almost a quarter of the US labor force is comprised of family caregivers making this an issue that impacts employers and employees alike.
This seminar features guest speaker, Ellen Birchander, Gerontology Department Graduate Program Director at the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
“During National Caregiver Month, AgeGuide is raising awareness of caregivers and their needs. We want to help employers to better understand the benefits of supporting their caregiving employees,” said Marla Fronczak, Chief Executive Officer for AgeGuide, “This is a challenge that is only going to grow, and we need to find innovative ways to balance the needs of a modern caregiving economy.”
