AgeGuide recently brought the voices of older adults, caregivers, and the aging services network directly to Capitol Hill during the USAging Policy Briefing and Capitol Hill Day in Washington, DC.
Our Hill Visits
During the visit, which involved getting in over 20,000 steps, our team met directly with many of our members of Congress and their staff to discuss the growing needs of older adults and caregivers across our communities. These conversations happened in offices, hallways, cubicles, and even the underground tunnels. Our message focused on the critical role federal aging programs play in helping older adults remain safe, healthy, and independent in their homes.
Our Advocacy Message
We shared the real impact of services funded through the Older Americans Act (OAA), including home-delivered meals, transportation, caregiver support, information and assistance, and other community-based services that thousands of older adults in our region rely on every day. These programs help older adults age with dignity in their homes and communities while also providing critical support to family caregivers.
Our federal priorities include increased support for:
- Title III B Home and Community-Based Supportive Services
- Title III E National Family Caregiver Support Program
The need for aging services continues to grow as our population ages, making strong federal investment more important than ever. Increased funding helps reduce social isolation, prevent costly hospitalizations and institutional care, and strengthen the support systems that older adults and families depend on.
