AgeGuide is proud to announce that we received a 2026 Aging Innovations & Achievement Award from USAging. Each year, USAging recognizes Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) for innovative programs that improve the lives of older adults and can serve as models for communities across the country.
AgeGuide was honored for Unlocking Potential: Moving From Aging in Place to Aging With Purpose, an initiative that helps organizations create age-friendly workplaces while expanding meaningful employment opportunities for older adults.
Building Age-Friendly Workplaces
Developed in partnership with the University of Iowa’s Age-Inclusive Management Strategies (AIMS) team, Unlocking Potential provides employers with practical strategies to recruit, retain, and support employees at every stage of life. Through interactive learning, workplace assessments, and free consultation, organizations strengthen workplace culture, improve collaboration across generations, and adopt age-inclusive hiring and management practices.
Making an Impact
The program is already making a difference. Among participating organizations, 80% reported greater readiness to implement age-inclusive workplace practices, including updating job descriptions, offering flexible scheduling, strengthening caregiver supports, and fostering intergenerational mentoring. Best of all, the initiative can be implemented using existing staff and resources, making it an affordable and replicable model for organizations of all sizes.
This national recognition reflects AgeGuide’s commitment to creating innovative solutions that help older adults continue contributing their skills, experience, and talents while building stronger, more age-friendly communities.
