Lombard, IL – The Board of Directors of AgeGuide Northeastern Illinois has elected Debra Mayconich Baron, Ph.D., of Kankakee, to the Agency’s Board for a three-year term as a Kankakee County representative.
Dr. Baron worked for AgeGuide for 13 years, from 1977 through 1990. During her tenure, her roles included Special Projects Director, Planning Division Manager, Program Division Manager, Administrative/Fiscal Manager, and Grants Manager. In these roles her major responsibilities included development of policies, criteria, and plans for awarding approximately $4.5 million in state and federal funds for programs for older adults in AgeGuide’s eight-county service area.
“AgeGuide is pleased to welcome Debra to the Board of Directors,” said Marla Fronczak, Chief Executive Officer for AgeGuide. “Her previous leadership in the Agency will be instrumental on the Board, and her doctorate in cultural and educational policy will be very relevant. We could not be happier to welcome her back and learn from her long tenure in the aging network.”
Most recently Dr. Baron worked on one of AgeGuide’s Strategic Planning Workgroups and facilitated a two-day retreat for AgeGuide’s Grants and Planning staff. The Agency believes she will be an outstanding representative for older adults in Kankakee County. She brings a wealth of experience in gerontology, grants management, strategic planning, and collaboration building.
