Lombard, IL – AgeGuide, the Area Agency on Aging for Northeastern Illinois, announces that its Community Connections Collaboratives program received special recognition from USAging. This program received the 2022 Aging Achievement Award which is the highest honor presented by USAging to member agencies. AgeGuide’s award winning program was among the top aging programs to receive honors during the USAging Annual Conference and Tradeshow, July 10-13.

The 2022 USAging Aging Innovations and Achievement Awards, supported by iN2L, recognizes Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) that developed leading-edge and successful ways to demonstrate sound management practices that are replicable by others in the Aging Network.

“Through the Aging Innovations and Achievement Awards, we salute our members’ outstanding accomplishments and hold up their programs in the hopes that doing so will seed replication and additional innovation by their peers around the country” said USAging CEO Sandy Markwood. “We applaud our members for their tireless efforts to creatively develop vital services and supports for older adults, as well as their caregivers and people with disabilities in communities nationwide.”

The Community Connections Collaboratives offers disease and illness prevention programs that teach fall prevention techniques, how to manage a chronic illness and offer socialization opportunities and exercise. Participants are evaluated before and after the program so they can see their physical improvements over time and see the benefits of the program for their overall health. Participants are also connected to other programs and services offered by AgeGuide.

“We are honored to receive the Aging Achievement Award from USAging” said Marla Fronczak, Chief Executive Officer of AgeGuide. “We are proud to offer the Community Connections Collaborative program to help older adults stay active, get some exercise, manage their chronic illness, and increase their socialization while having fun.”

All winners are showcased in the USAging 2022 AIA awards book.
