At the heart of AgeGuide Northeastern Illinois is a dedicated group of thought leaders who influence the advocacy, planning and coordination of aging services for the eight counties of the Northeastern Illinois service area.

For 47 years, our volunteer Board and Advisory Council has been a driving force for excellence and growth. This group of visionary change agents, ensures that AgeGuide delivers innovative life-changing resources, and responds to the evolving needs of the aging population.

We are inviting applicants with a passion for:

  • Impacting the community
  • Advocating for older adults on legislation and policy
  • Serving as a voice for justice and equality in program development and resource distribution

What makes a qualified Board member?

  • Provide advocate leadership in matters affecting aging
  • General knowledge of aging needs and resources
  • Encourage and assist in development of services available from public, private, voluntary and governmental resources
  • Provide authorized services through grants, contracts, purchase of service and, when necessary, under its direct administration
  • Persons with leadership experience that reside in the county you represent
  • Women, people of color, persons 60 or better
  • People representing underserved populations

What makes a qualified Advisory Council member?

  • General knowledge of aging needs and resources
  • Passion for ensuring services are reaching those in need
  • Reside or work in the county you represent
  • Women, people of color, persons 60 or better
  • People representing underserved populations

What is involved in being a Board member or Advisory Council member?

  • Participate in scheduled meetings, including the Annual Meeting
  • Attend and promote AgeGuide events
  • Serve on a committee
  • Be a spokesperson for AgeGuide in the community
