West Chicago, IL – The Agency on Aging of Northeastern Illinois will hold public hearings on Thursday, May 30, 2019, on its proposed updates to its Area Plan for FY19-21 and on the proposed allocation of over $15.2 million for services for older adults in its eight-county service area in FY20.
The purpose of the public hearing is to provide an open forum for the general public to comment on proposed services, expenditures and other activities as outlined in the Public Information Document and anticipated to be carried out during FY19-21 Area Plan Cycle. The Public Hearings provide information about the Agency on Aging’s proposed plans, budget, funding formula, and priorities for funding community-based services for older adults and family caregivers.
The public hearing focused on funding in Grundy, Kankakee, Kendall, and Will Counties will be held: Thursday, May 30, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at Senior Services Center of Will County (251 North Center Street, Joliet, IL 60435). No RSVP is required to attend this event.
The public hearing focused on funding in DuPage, Kane, Lake, and McHenry Counties will be held: Thursday, May 30, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. at the Agency on Aging Northeastern Illinois Field Office (245 West Roosevelt Road, Building 6, Suite 41-43, West Chicago, IL 60185). No RSVP is required to attend this event.
The proposed allocations are for FY20, which will begin October 1, 2019 are federal funds provided under Title III-B, C, D, and E and Title VII of the Older Americans Act, supplemented by appropriations of Illinois General Revenue Funds.
The allocation amounts are subject to change due to increases or decreases in federal or state appropriations or updated demographic information. The proposed allocations are also subject to change by the Agency’s Board of Directors on the basis of public hearing testimony, at the request of a county’s service providers, or upon the recommendations of the Agency’s Advisory Council or the Board’s Planning Committee.

Written testimony must be received no later than Monday, June 3, in order to be considered.
The Agency on Aging of Northeastern Illinois is a nonprofit organization responsible for developing and coordinating a network of services for older persons throughout an eight county area in northeastern Illinois. The Agency informs and advises public and private agencies and the general public of the needs of older persons living in the area, and acts as an advocate on their behalf.
