This September, join AgeGuide for the 2026 Aging Summit, a day dedicated to exploring how we can create neighborhoods where people of every age and ability can live, connect, and thrive. Through engaging presentations, expert panels, and interactive discussions, participants will gain practical strategies to strengthen housing, transportation, community connections, and other key elements that make communities more livable.
Explore the Future of Livable Communities
The day begins with nationally recognized livability expert Bill Armbruster of AARP Livable Communities, who will introduce the core principles that help neighborhoods support residents throughout every stage of life. Attendees will then hear from leaders at the Illinois Department on Aging and the Illinois Office to Prevent and End Homelessness as they share a statewide roadmap for creating communities that are inclusive, accessible, and prepared for Illinois’ growing older adult population.
Learn From Leaders Driving Change
After lunch, municipal and nonprofit leaders will discuss innovative approaches to housing, home repair programs, and local planning efforts that help people remain safely and independently in their communities.
Participants will also take part in an interactive session to identify local challenges and develop practical, community-based solutions they can bring back to their own organizations and neighborhoods.
Leave Inspired to Take Action
The Summit concludes with a forward-looking conversation on what it will take to build future-ready neighborhoods. Featuring experts from AARP, the Illinois Department on Aging, and the Illinois Office to Prevent and End Homelessness, the closing session will connect big-picture ideas with actionable strategies that foster belonging, strengthen community ties, and improve quality of life for generations to come.
Register today to be a part of these important conversations.
