This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Older Americans Act (OAA)—a cornerstone of support for older adults and caregivers. And while this milestone is worth celebrating, it’s also a moment to stand up and fight for the future of aging services.
Vital programs are at risk. Federal proposals threaten to cut funding and dismantle the coordinated system that delivers meals, transportation, in-home care, and caregiver support.
That’s why we’re calling on everyone—advocates, caregivers, professionals, and community members—to join us for a Statewide Advocacy Day on Wednesday, May 28.
Your Voice Matters More Than Ever
The more people who show up, the louder our message:
Protect the OAA. Keep aging services whole. Fund what works.
Lawmakers need to see that this issue matters—not to a few, but to many. When we fill the room, we shift the conversation.
Why You Should Be There:
- Show solidarity with older adults and caregivers
- Help protect services that allow people to age safely at home
- Send a powerful, visible message to our legislators
This is our opportunity to make real change—but it only works if we show up together.
Let’s make May 28 a turning point—not just for this year, but for the future of aging in our state.
There are events being held all over Illinois, see the list of events here.
