    Do you have a heart for veterans and a desire to help them thrive in their homes? As a Veteran Directed Care Options Counselor, you’ll play a vital role in the Veterans Directed Care (VDC) program. You’ll work directly with veterans, guiding them through the process of self-directing their care and managing their resources to live safely and independently.

  • Advisory Council or Board of Directors

    The core of AgeGuide is its Board of Directors, assisted by the Advisory Council. The Board and Council represent the eight counties of the Northeastern Illinois service area.

    What makes a qualified Board member?

    • Sincere interest in benefiting older adults
    • Desire to make the public aware of services available to older adults
    • Must reside in the county you represent
    • Women, people of color, persons 60 or better and those representing underserved populations are strongly encouraged to apply

    What is involved in being a board member?

    • Attend seven board meetings a year, including the Annual Meeting
    • Attend AgeGuide events
    • Serve as a member of a committee

    What makes a qualified Advisory Council member?

    • Sincere interest in advocating for programs and services that benefit older adults
    • Desire to make the public aware of services available to older adults
    • Must work or reside in the county you represent
    • Women, people of color, persons 60+, and those representing underserved populations are strongly encouraged to apply

    What is involved in being a Advisory Council member?

    • Attend six Advisory Council meetings a year, and the Annual Meeting
    • Attend AgeGuide events
    • Serve as a member of a committee

    Although Board and Advisory Council members represent their home counties, they also share a regional perspective in order to provide planning and services for the entire area. Board and Council duties center around the Agency’s Area Plan and the schedule of funding allocations, grant awards, and service monitoring.
