Becoming a Dementia Friendly Business within our Eight-County Region:
If your business or organization operates within AgeGuide’s service area—covering DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties—you are eligible to access our comprehensive online training modules and receive a Dementia Friendly Business designation certificate. To earn the designation, your organization must meet the following criteria:
- At least 50% of front-line staff complete the training.
- All leadership and management personnel complete the training.
- Appoint a team leader to act as the Dementia Friendly liaison and main point of contact with AgeGuide.
- Commit to ongoing training for new and current employees and maintain a Dementia Friendly environment based on best practices.
Upon fulfilling these requirements, your business will receive an official Dementia Friendly Business designation, including a completion letter and a window cling to display your commitment. Employees who complete the training will also receive individual certificates.

- View Understanding the Basics: Begin with our foundational module, “Understanding the Basics,” which provides essential insights into dementia.
- View Sector-Specific Courses: After completing Understanding the Basics, choose from additional courses tailored to your specific industry or interest area.
- Receive A Dementia Friendly Certificate: Each course includes a brief quiz to assess your understanding. Upon successful completion, a certificate will be emailed to you.
- Share your Certificate with your Team/Liaison: Collection of the certificates will ensure all criteria are met for the business to receive the Dementia Friendly designation.
