March is Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate the achievements, resilience, and contributions of women throughout history. This year’s theme, Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations, reflects the power of mentorship, advocacy, and knowledge-sharing across generations.
At AgeGuide, we recognize the invaluable role that women—especially older women—play in shaping communities, families, and society. Women have long been at the forefront of aging services, both as caregivers and as advocates for aging. Their wisdom, experience, and leadership continue to pave the way for future generations.
The Legacy of Women in Aging Services
Women have historically been the backbone of caregiving, often providing unpaid support to family members while also driving systemic change in healthcare and social services. In fact, 75% of all caregivers are women.
Locally, we see the impact of women in our aging network every day. From the dedicated professionals to the volunteers ensuring older adults remain connected and supported, the aging network reflects the spirit of this year’s theme. In fact, 78% of the workforce in healthcare and social services, which includes the aging network, is made up of women.
Inspiring the Next Generation
As we celebrate Women’s History Month, let’s honor the women who have shaped the field of aging services and those who continue to inspire change.
By moving forward together, we ensure that the contributions of women in aging services are recognized and that their legacy continues to inspire generations to come.
