Lombard, IL – AgeGuide, the Area Agency on Aging, is pleased to announce it will expand its partnership with Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet to include Caregiver Counseling services in Grundy County. There are Caregiver Counseling Centers in all eight counties that AgeGuide serves and as of Wednesday, November 1, 2023, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet will assume responsibility as the Caregiver Counseling Center in Grundy County.
Caregiver Counseling Centers are a vital component of the Older Americans Act (OAA) Family Caregiver Program, providing resources to improve and protect the well-being of those giving unpaid care to adults age 60+ and those with Alzheimer’s Disease or related disorders, and for relatives age 55+ raising children under 18 or giving unpaid care to adults with disabilities. These programs coach and counsel caregivers through difficult times, support cooperative family decision-making, and promote balance and mental wellness. Grundy County Health Department will remain the OAA Caregiver Resource Center in Grundy County, providing other supportive services including respite, legal services, training, education, and support groups for caregivers.
