In 2020, 1 billion people were over 60; by 2050, this number is projected to have more than doubled to 2.1 billion. Today, 17 million of these older adults face economic insecurity due to rising expenses, fraud and scams, inadequate nutrition, and limited access to transportation. Even those living comfortably risk slipping into poverty from a single adverse life event. We all want to thrive in our longer lives but to do this, we need to intentionally drive positive change to address the demographic and financial realities of aging.
To kick-off a collaborative and inspired conversation about economic resilience in our region and across the nation, AgeGuide is hosting our third annual Aging Summit. Here we will explore innovative strategies to ensure all of us are able to meet our financial needs, enjoy a healthy life, access employment and learning opportunities, and live a life filled with purpose at all stages of life.
Glimpse into the 2024 Aging Summit
The Aging Summit will bring together a diverse community of aging adults, caregivers, thought leaders, and community stakeholders. All of us have a crucial role to play in shaping economic resilience across the lifespan.
The Summit features an amazing lineup of speakers and sessions to help us explore long-lasting solutions that empower individuals to flourish and support sustainable resilience throughout their lifespan. Together we can embrace our shared responsibility to ensure the financial resilience of the future by redefining what it means to retire, enabling aging populations to continue to engage in their communities in meaningful ways, facilitating greater levels of short-term and long-term savings, and investing in health and well-being.
it is still essential to advocate for older adults via our action alert. There are intricate ties between economic security, and our major policies for older adults—Medicare, Social Security, and the Older Americans Act.
