This year will mark AgeGuide’s fourth annual Aging Summit. This year’s theme, Mind Matters: A Lifespan Approach to Brain Health, recognizes cognitive health as an essential component of aging well and living fully across the lifespan.
As we collectively navigate the complexities of aging, we must confront the rising challenges of cognitive decline, memory loss, and the stigma surrounding brain health. These issues affect individuals, families, caregivers, and entire communities. Advancing brain health calls for a holistic, inclusive approach, one that encompasses prevention, education, innovation, and most importantly, equity.
Introducing the Keynote Speaker: Dr. Lisa Barnes
AgeGuide is thrilled to welcome Dr. Lisa Barnes, PhD, to the Summit this year. Dr. Barnes is the Alla V. and Solomon Jesmer Professor of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine, Associate Director of the Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, and a cognitive neuropsychologist at Rush University Medical Center.
Dr. Barnes will guide us through the evolving science of brain health, offering powerful insights on the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease, the latest developments in research, and the essential need for diverse representation in clinical studies. Her keynote will also spotlight the groundbreaking work of the Global Council on Brain Health, particularly its commitment to health equity across populations.
Summit Topics and Expert Sessions
In addition to Dr. Barnes’ keynote, the Summit will feature thought-provoking sessions on:
- Breakthroughs in research and prevention
- The role of social connection in cognition
- Innovative care approaches
- Policy and community strategies
Become a Dementia Friends Champion
To extend the impact of the day, we invite you to stay for a special bonus session from 3:30 to 4:30 PM. In this free, optional training, you’ll gain valuable knowledge about the personal impact of dementia and learn practical ways to support those living with it.
Upon completion, you’ll be certified as a Dementia Friend Champion—empowered to volunteer and make a meaningful difference in your community. It’s one more way to turn awareness into action and be part of the change.
