Older adults are invited to enjoy a full day of special activities during Senior Day at the Illinois State Fair on Monday, August 17. Visitors ages 60 and older receive free admission to the fairgrounds, making it the perfect opportunity to explore everything the fair has to offer while taking part in programs designed especially for older adults.
Throughout the day, the Illinois Building will host a variety of senior-focused events, including health screenings, educational resources, and opportunities to connect with organizations that support healthy aging. Visitors can also stop by the EngAging Illinois photo booth to have a professional portrait taken and share what aging well means to them as part of the statewide We Are Aging Illinois: Portraits of Joy, Purpose, and Possibility campaign.
Don’t Miss: My Mama Joe: Hope & Help
One of the day’s featured events is a special screening of My Mama Joe: Hope & Help, an inspiring documentary that shares one family’s journey with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The film highlights the challenges caregivers face while offering hope, education, and encouragement for families navigating memory loss.
Following the screening, attendees are invited to stay for a panel discussion featuring a physician, caregiver, and aging expert, with local organizations available to provide information and resources. The event takes place from 3:00–5:00 p.m. in the Illinois Building Auditorium and includes free water and snacks.
