In an exciting new development, AgeGuide in partnership with Community Nutrition Network and Senior Services Association (CNN), is happy to announce the expansion of the Dine Around Town Program with two new restaurants in Lake and Will County. This program aims to provide older adults with more dining options, promoting social engagement and nutritional well-being.

Urban Kitchen Restaurant Opening in Will County

On Wednesday, July 31, AgeGuide celebrated the grand opening of its newest restaurant in the Dine Around Town program, Urban Kitchen in Crest Hill! Staff from AgeGuide and CNN, older adults, and community members attended the opening, and everyone was able to sample the food from the restaurant. Older adults in Will County can now register to enjoy meals at Urban Kitchen!

Honeybella Restaurant Opening in Lake County

On August 28 from 10-11 AM, there will be a grand opening event for the newest Dine Around Town restaurant, Honeybella Café in Wauconda. We encourage you to attend the grand opening event to explore the program, registration is required. Interested older adults can call 847-882-4170 to register.

How the Dine Around Town Program Works

All meals meet U.S. federal standards for nutrition for older adults, and a licensed dietitian with AgeGuide has reviewed and approved the menu. Each meal includes three ounces of protein, one cup of vegetables (or two cups of raw, leafy vegetables), half a cup of fruit, two ounces of grains, and eight ounces of milk.

To receive meals at the restaurants in the program, registration is required. To learn more about the restaurants in the program and the application, please follow this link.

Impact of the Community Dining Program

Since the addition of the restaurant program, there has been significant growth in participation in all community dining programs. The program provides nutritious meals, flexible mealtimes and menus, and opportunities for community socialization. There are two county infographics available to visually understand the growth of the program: Grundy County and Kendall County.
